Hello, my name is Ilena. I have attained a B.A. in Psychology and Family and Social Relations from The University of Windsor (2013), Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) Post-Graduate certificate from Lambton College (2014), an Autism Behavioral Sciences Post-Graduate Certificate from St. Clair College (2017), Master of Science in Psychology with focus on Child and Adolescent Development (2023) from Capella University with distinction. I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Over the past 7 years I have had the opportunity to work as an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) specialist (Senior Therapist) working with children on the Autism Spectrum, during this time, I learned strategies to help support the children I work with in dealing with both behavioural and academic issues. I have practice implementing the Zones of Regulation program and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and the AIM Curriculum (Accept, Identify Move). My goal in this journey as a psychotherapy / counseling student is to attain a better understand about how I can assist children & youth to discuss and understand their emotions and instruct and advise them of coping strategies they can apply in their daily lives.
