Our therapy practice focuses on working with individuals and families.Each practitioner has a unique skill set and offers a variety of therapeutic approaches.
Together, with your therapist, you will bring forward your personal concerns and set goals to decide what approach works best for you. Be flexible, this approach can change as you continue your healing journey.
Some of the modalities we do use include, CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, play therapy, solution focused, mindfulness and somatics.
Therapy sessions typically run for 1 hour; 50 minutes for the therapy session and the final 10 minutes for rescheduling and session wrap up.
Depending on the severity of what you're dealing with sometimes a few sessions are enough to develop coping, and other times you will require ongoing therapy, this is constantly reviewed with you and your counsellor throughout your time here.
You are the best advocate for yourself! Never be hesitant to request someone who is well-versed in your area of need. It is helpful to have goals in mind when seeking therapy and discussing how the therapist will help you meet them.
Bringing someone into sessions is mostly welcomed while noting that if it is an individual session, the person being brought in is to help the individual heal/cope. Partnered or family therapy can occur in separate sessions.
Unfortunately, psychotherapy and other mental health services are not covered by OHIP at this time, but are included in most health insurance plans.
We accept most coverage plans and can often bill directly, but are limited to pay and submit by a handful of companies. Ask us which ones to be sure.
We accept payment by debit or credit card as well as etransfer. After payment you will be provided a receipt for your insurance provider and/or tax purposes.
A therapy session is collaborative between the therapist and the client. The client should be willing and actively engaged and proactive in their own healing to allow the therapist to share insights.
You may also stop therapy, or request a new therapist at any time, with no repercussions or explanation.
